Our Colorful Modern Nursery, and Eleanor's Newborn Shoot

Eleanor Pearl is already six months old, my how time flies. I'm a little bit embarrassed that I am just now getting her newborn pictures posted. We were so lucky to have them taken by the talented Jana Marler of Jana Marie Photography (I'm also happy to call her a friend). It was so important to us that we capture little Eleanor in the first days of her life, so we can look back and remember how small she was.

We also worked so hard on her room, and you may remember my post about our decor inspiration. I wanted to create a nursery for baby girl that was a mix of modern and whimsical, with graphic black and white patterns. There were tons of hand made projects we did for the room, including sewing curtains, creating the yarn mobile, the dog prints on the wall, the golden polka dots, and the list goes on. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out, and I hope that she'll love it so much when she gets older. (list of resources at the bottom of the post).

I searched and searched for the perfect rocker for her room. After scouring the internet and reading tons of reviews I settled on this one from Nursery Works. It was an excellent choice. I liked it's modern styling, but it's also comfortable, which is important when you spend so much time in it. One thing I also really loved about it is it's size. It's super easy to fit a nursing pillow around your waist, and the nice low arms are perfect for multiple feeding positions. You don't feel scrunched in.

I also love her crib, and dresser. I decided on this crib from Hayneedle.com, again, after extensive research. I wanted something modern in it's shape and styling, but many of the pieces I was finding were crazy expensive. This one was the perfect price, and she can use it into toddler hood, as it comes with a convertible rail to make it into her first big girl bed. I didn't feel as bad about splurging a little bit on the dresser from Land of Nod, since she'll be able to use it for years and years to come. Again I liked the simple clean lines, and the combination of open shelves and drawers. I changed out the nickel knobs to add a little pop of color.

This gallery wall is one of my favorite decor areas of the room. When I was growing up my mom was always a huge advocate of being green (before it was popular). She used cloth diapers on all of us, and so I thought I'd give them a try. We decided on Bum Genius, and 6 months later we are still loving them. They have held up great, and are so much easier than the old ones you had to fold, safety pin, and cover.

I was also thrilled to have our shoot featured on one of my favorite kid/baby blogs, On To Baby. Pop on over and check out the post here. Thank you so much for checking out Eleanor Pearl's nursery and sweet newborn pictures.
